Healthier Living is a low-cost program that helps people with chronic conditions learn to manage and improve their own health.  Anyone with diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure or another health concern can join.  The focus of the program is on common problems such as pain management, nutrition, exercise, medication use, emotions and communicating with doctors.  During the 6-week program, participants build the skills needed to manage their conditions by sharing experiences and providing mutual support.  Healthier Living is interactive and uses tools such as action planning, goal setting, problem solving and decision making along with social support.  Developed at Stanford University and studied nation-wide, Healthier Living results in real, measureable improvements in the health and quality of life of people with chronic conditions.  Participants report that they feel healthier with better management of symptoms and less fatigue, shortness of breath, stress and sleep problems.  They are more active, have less depression, better quality of life and fewer sick days.
Please share the flyer with anyone who may benefit.  The program is open to the community.
